Wax Melt Safety & Usage
Enjoy Your Wax Melts Safely
Our handmade wax melts are designed to fill your home with beautiful fragrance. As wax warmers use heat—and some use a naked flame—it is important to use them carefully and follow the instructions supplied with your warmer.
Before You Begin
-
Only use a wax warmer specifically designed for wax melts.
-
Check the warmer for cracks, damage or loose electrical parts before every use.
-
Place it upright on a flat, stable and heat-resistant surface.
-
Keep it away from curtains, bedding, furniture, paper, decorations and anything else that could catch fire.
-
Keep the warmer out of reach of children and pets.
-
Ensure there is plenty of clear space above and around the warmer.
-
Never place a warmer beneath a shelf or inside an enclosed space.
Using a Tealight Wax Warmer
-
Only use the size and type of tealight recommended by the warmer manufacturer.
-
We recommend a standard four-hour, unscented tealight.
-
Never use an eight-hour, multiple-wick or oversized tealight unless the warmer is specifically designed for it.
-
Place a suitable amount of wax in the empty dish before lighting the tealight.
-
Do not overfill the dish—wax must not spill over its edges.
-
Keep the wax pool free from matches, wick trimmings and other debris.
-
Never move or touch the warmer while the tealight is lit or the wax is hot.
-
Extinguish the tealight before it reaches the end of its recommended burning time.
Using an Electric Wax Warmer
-
Use only an electric warmer designed for melting fragrance wax.
-
Follow the manufacturer’s instructions, including the recommended bulb or heat setting.
-
Place the warmer on a flat, stable and heat-resistant surface.
-
Check the cable and plug regularly for signs of damage.
-
Never leave an electric warmer switched on unattended.
-
Switch it off and unplug it after use.
Important Safety Rules
-
Never leave an operating wax warmer unattended—even for a few moments.
-
Extinguish or switch off the warmer before leaving the room or going to sleep.
-
Do not use a warmer when you are tired or may fall asleep.
-
Do not add water, fragrance oil or any other substance to the wax.
-
Do not use the warmer near draughts, open windows or air vents.
-
Never handle or move hot wax.
-
Allow the warmer and wax to cool completely before touching or cleaning them.
-
Do not use a cracked, chipped or damaged warmer.
-
Do not use more than one tealight unless the warmer is specifically designed for it.
-
Keep working smoke alarms fitted and test them regularly.
How Much Wax Should I Use?
Snap off or cut away a small amount that fits comfortably inside your warmer’s dish. The dish must have enough space to contain the fully melted wax without overflowing.
Extra-large melts and slabs must be divided into suitably sized portions before use. Never place an entire oversized wax melt into a standard burner.
When Should I Change the Wax?
Wax does not disappear as it is heated. Replace it when you can no longer smell the fragrance or when you would like to use a different scent.
Switch off or extinguish the warmer and allow everything to cool before removing the wax. Follow the cleaning instructions provided by the warmer manufacturer. Never use a knife or sharp implement to prise hardened wax from the dish.
If a Fire Starts
Do not take risks or attempt to move the warmer. Get everyone out, stay out and call 999. Never pour water onto burning wax.
